Celebrating Half-Term Break

In celebration of Julia's making it to half-term break, we decided to take a day trip today. We drove an hour and a half to visit two impressive religious monuments - though they really couldn't be more different. First, we headed to Salisbury, a quaint town that boasts a stunning Cathedral with the tallest spire in the UK and one of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta.

Then we drove twenty minutes to another massive stone monument - Stonehenge. We didn't have long there before it closed, but we enjoyed a brief tour of the puzzling pagan 'holy' site. Evidence for some sort of religious (or possibly: astronomical?) activity goes back 5,000 years there - long before Moses or the exodus from Egypt.

All told, it was a much needed day of rest, and helped to lift our heads a bit and remind us of the joy it is to be living in England.
