Two recommendations of our own to kick things off. First, music including some nice lullabies by Renee & Jeremy; go here to listen to their music (and it's great that you can play it online). Second, we discovered some Christian children's music by Butterflyfish. Though a few of their songs are a bit Quakerish for my theological tastes, they've got some good lyrics and some likeable music. Go here to hear some samples (my two favorites are Lemonade and All Sad Songs).
So, any pointers?

I think Seth and I like Butterflyfish more than the boys do. ANYTHING is better than the VeggieTales CDs that Chic-fil-a gave out for awhile. I've heard good things about the music (seedsmusicstore.com) but haven't heard it yet.

We love Andrew Peterson's Slugs, Bugs & Lullabies, especially as parents of a little girl. Some of the songs aren't our favorites, but some of them are great! With slightly older kids, we used to love Tom Chapin - but that might not be your cup of tea. Oldie but a goodie. Good luck!
Two thoughts here :)
1) I always have and always will love the music by Raffi! Its catchy and fun :)
2) I know that I've seen my niece/nephew fall asleep faster to some music by baby einstein than anything else...so it must have some magic powers...and its mostly instrumental versions of old classics.

We are big fans of Raffi, too! We have a DVD of a live concert recorded in the 80s, and while the fashions are dated, the concert is wonderful. His songs are catchy and fun, and work wonders at focusing a squirmy baby during a diaper chage. Cameron loves "Fraffi."
A few others we have enjoyed:
Sharing Cultures with Ella Jenkins (Ella and a children's group sing music from various cultures); A Child's Garden of Verses by Ted Jacobs (the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson in song); The "Sing the Word" Series by the Harrow Family (a very musical family who have produced quality songs with only Scripture as lyrics - used in our homeschool curriculum).

Thanks to all you guys! We are working through all of your suggestions with much profit. We've YouTubed Raffi, bookmarked seeds music, downloaded Andrew Peterson's album, ordered Baby Einstein, and are looking forward to taking in the further suggestions by the Egans. Thanks for all the help!
I second the Ella Jenkins and Raffi; we also love Elizabeth Mitchell, and children's albums on Smithsonian Folkways records, especially Leadbelly Sings for Children, Woody Guthrie's "Nursery Days" and "Songs to Grow On" and Pete Seeger's children's stuff. Also "Family Time" by Ziggy Marley and a number of the Putumayo Kids albums...in the UK you can get Spotify for free, and maybe can try these out without laying out cash? Hope you are doing well!
