On Chirimoya and Kaki

Our good friends and nextdoor neighbors recently invited us to split a weekly fruit and vegetable box delivered to our doors by Abel and Cole - something that we might not have been adventurous enough to try on our own. We just got our second box yesterday.

The best part is receiving the box. It's kinda like a stocking on Christmas morning, except no child wants to open up their stocking and see it stuffed with celery.

The produce is local and seasonal, and we don't pick out what will come. This has made for some interesting challenges resulting in new meals. Like date bread. Or last night's meal, butternut squash and apple soup.

We keep getting plums. So I made purple plum pie.

We got strange fruit in this week's box: Chirimoya and Kaki. Any suggestions on what to do with those?

We love our weekly veggie box delivery! No crazy fruits in it, though. Good luck with those! :) It's such a fun challenge to figure out what to do with all of it - especially things like swede and purple kale and swiss chard. Here's a helpful website: http://www.vegbox-recipes.co.uk/ Have fun!
