We've often mentioned how the romance and novelty of living overseas wears off after about a month, and then normal life settles in. It's all too easy for us to fall into longing for the sands of Egypt, remembering how good things are at home (in Fievel's immortal words: there are no cats in America, and the streets are paved with cheese). There are lots of things about the US we'll never stop missing (above all our family and friends), but to remind ourselves to live in the moment, we are undertaking a series of blog posts with the inspired title, 'stuff we like about Oxford'. Here goes nothing.
While jogging, I (Julia) have been taking pictures with my iPod (thanks to my brother, Matthew). Something about taking a photograph forces one to take note of the beauty all around. I am no photographer, and my iPod is not a proper camera, but my running routes really do take me through stunning scenery. This exercise has helped me to 'open up my eyes', to perceive the glory of God. And when my eyes are open, this is what I see:

Thanks for the lovely slide show, Julia. Funny - we have to fight the same thing in the opposite direction. We glamorize the UK and complain about the US!
