Nach Deutschland

We have officially decided to move to Germany for most of the next academic year. Specifically, we will be in Tübingen (of which this is a picture) where I will be studying at the Eberhard Karls Universität and we will both be trying our hand at learning German. This was a tough decision because, on the one hand, I received a nice scholarship to help pay for living expenses there and it would potentially be a good thing to have on a CV, but on the other hand this will now be our third move in three years and heroic Julia will have to navigate yet another job market, complicated this time by constricting visa regulations. Nevertheless, Oxford hasn't been all smiles, and we're excited at the prospects that may come. Our good friends, the Hays, will be in Bonn, Germany, for the year, so at least we'll know some other English speakers somewhere in the country. And for all of our friends and family, if you want to visit Europe you'll have a free place to stay in our little corner of southwest Germany.
