It's the Little Things

Moving overseas, a friend once told us, is like having someone secretly move things in your house by a few inches. You have a nagging feeling that things are not where they used to be, but it's not always easy to point to specifics. But here's a few differences we were quick to put our finger on:

The light switches here are big (maybe easier to find in darkness?)...

We have five different ways to dispose of our trash, four of them being means of recycling. We have calculated that this takes up about 18% of the floor space in our flat!

The (metal) blinds are on the outside of almost all windows here. 

Not sure how much this has to do with being in student housing, but our mattress is just a big piece of foam - not really too uncomfortable, though.

Our pillows, a standard size here, are a very large, uncomfortable square:

And we are experiencing a German way of avoiding fights over the blankets: to each his own! We've got two little comforters instead of one big one:

And so ends another epic glimpse into the secret life of the Lincicums in their natural habitat. This is what happens when you make a New Year's resolution to blog more but have mostly uneventful lives.
